Okay, so what I don't really understand is that if Pip knew all along, since he was seven or so, that Estella was raised to break his heart, why does he court her still? I understand that he's in love with her, but I think you might get a clue after, what, fifteen years?
I think that Miss Havisham told Estella to break his heart right in front of Pip's face the first time Pip visited satis house.
